HP7610 won't print in color. I am using a Mac on Mojave. Also, just installed brand new cartridges and it's telling me that C and Y are low.

Hi @JohnJett

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.

I understand you are not able to print in color.

  • Which application are you trying to print from?
  • Have you tried printing different types of documents like PDF, Word, or Webpages and check if the issue persists?
  • Make sure the protective plastic tape if any from the new ink cartridges before placing them in the printer.
  • Try making a standalone copy in color and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

For now, let us try these steps:

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

Update the printer firmware

On the printer, go to Setup > Tools > Update the printer > Check now.

Use an automated tool to clean the printhead

  1. From the Home screen on the printer control panel, touch the Right Arrow (), and then touch Setup ().

  2. Touch Tools, and then touch Clean Printhead. The printer prints a test page after it cleans the printhead.

NOTE:

If the test page has faded or missing ink, you might need to clean the printhead several times to restore normal print quality.

Print a Print Quality Diagnostic Page

  1. On the printer control panel, touch the Right arrow (), and then touch Reports.

  2. From the Reports menu, touch Print Quality Report. The test page prints.

  3. Check for color.
