My Officejet Pro 8610 has the ink cartridge holder stuck on the right side. How do I get it to move

HP Officejet Pro 8610
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

When I removed the print head to clean it, the holder moved to the right and will not stay over on left side to put the  print head back in.  How do I get it to stay on the left side?

My Officejet Pro 8610 has the ink cartridge holder stuck on the right side. How do I get it to move

Hi @Ricky29

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.

It seems like an issue with the print carriage. You may try to manually move the print carriage when the printer is powered off.

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

Check for obstructions in the carriage path

Kindly refer to the steps mentioned in this document.

If the issue persists, I'm afraid this is a hardware issue with the printer. Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
