HP Officejet Pro 8610 e-All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My 8610 stopped printing color.  Even when I run a print head cleaning, the resultant test page is only shades of black.  So I think it is an internal problem or setting.  No computer device drivers involved.

It failed after I tried (unsuccessfully) a non-HP black ink cartridge.  I quickly gave up on that and installed a real HP 950XL cartridge. Now, no more color.

Hi @jatWV

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.

HP does not recommend the use of non-HP ink cartridges. It may damage the print mechanism in the printer. Also, HP does not guarantee the quality of non-HP ink cartridges.

If you have tried the steps mentioned in this document and the issue persists, I'm afraid this is a hardware issue with the printer. Please contact our HP Support team for Service Options:

1) Click on this link - www.hp.com/contacthp/

2) Select your product type below.

3) Enter the serial of your device.

4) Select the country from the drop-down.

5) Select the appropriate option based on your preference.

6) Fill the web-form and proceed further.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.
