Greetings All

My printer has stopped printing. The external symptoms are:

  1. You submit a job.
  2. The printer spins up and the outlet door opens.
  3. The front panel displays Now Printing.
  4. Nothing actually prints. There’s two slightly variant behaviours here:
    • After a few minutes the outlet door closes and nothing prints, leaving Now Printing on the screen.
    • After a few minutes a blank page prints.

To isolate this from the rest of my environment I did the following:

  • Disconnected it from the network
  • Reset it to the default settings
  • Printed a status page using Setup > Print Reports > Print Status Report

The problem persists.

If I log in via the web UI the only sign of problems is this:

In short, it’s throwing error 74899. I contacted HP support and they’re unable to tell me what that error means. I’m hoping that someone here might. So:

  • Has anyone seen this error before?
  • Any idea what it means?

Share and Enjoy
