OfficeJet 7720 duplex printing problem

I've just installed a new 7720 printer connected via USB to a PC running Windows 8.1.  All latest drivers and firmware downloaded and installed.  Superb quality printing.  However, vertical position of text pages (when printing portrait), particularly when using duplex is wrong.  When the paper goes through the printer in different directions the print is offset on the 2 sides of the paper.  Irritating when printing a double-sided A4 report but totally unacceptable when printing in booklet mode (eg from a pdf) as the double page spreads are not centred across the sheet.  Help please.

PS  Just did a further check.  Printing just 2 original pages using the multiple option of a pdf to print on a single side of paper also resulted in the double page spread being offset.  So this is a fundamental print positioning problem which is just emphasised when using duplex as the offset is magnified.

At last managed to find something which resolves the pdf printing issue with this printer - select 'Print as Image' option on the Advanced tab.  Can't find any option that helps when printing from Word.  Any suggestions please.  Of course could convert all Word files to pdf but shouldn't have to!!

Let's try to do a root uninstall and reinstall of the software:

Unplug any USB cable, if any, before doing this.

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

13.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo

14.) Type c:/programdata and click Ok. Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

15.) Restart the computer.
