Welcome to HP forums, I see that your printer is not printing in color.

  • Did you make a copy and check if that prints in color?
  • Which operating system is installed on the computer to which this printer is connected?

Meanwhile:

Print a Print Quality Diagnostic Page

  1. Load plain white paper in the input tray.

  2. From the printer control panel, open the Setup  menu.

  3. Open the Reports or Tools menu.

  4. Touch Print Quality Report.

A Print Quality Diagnostic Page prints.

Yrs, I made colored copies but the copies do not have color. I have printed from USB stick, windows 7 and windows 8. I had printed from these three before also. Also printed with iOS devices before but can’t print with those now.

Thanks for the reply.

I appreciate your time and effort.

Make sure the ink cartridges are properly vented and seated correctly

  1. Turn on the printer, if it is not already turned on.

  2. Open the ink cartridge access door.

The carriage moves to the center of the printer.

    Open the cartridge access door

  3. Wait until the carriage stops moving before you continue.

  4. Press the tab inward on the front of the old ink cartridge to release it, and then pull up on the ink cartridge to remove it from the slot.

Pushing the ink cartridge inward and then pulling up to remove it

  5. Examine the vent area above the HP logo on the top of the ink cartridge.

  6. If the ink cartridge still has the orange pull-tab attached, pull to remove it.

  7. If the vent is clogged, use a straight pin to gently remove excess adhesive from the vent.

    3. Unclogged vent

  8. Turn the ink cartridge so that the ink cartridge contacts face downward, and then match the label color with the color dot on the carriage.

  9. Slide the ink cartridge into its slot, and then gently press the ink cartridge down until it snaps into place.

    Reinserting the ink cartridge

  10. Repeat these steps to inspect the vents on each of the ink cartridges.

  11. Make sure each ink cartridge is firmly installed in its slot. Run your finger along the top of the ink cartridges to feel for any that are protruding, and if any are, press down firmly until each ink cartridge snaps into place.

  12. Close the ink cartridge access door.

I am having the exact same issue, except that I am using Windows 10.  I have gone through all the same steps but I cannot get it to work.  Is there an update or workaround I should be using?   Thank you,

None of that helps.  Seems like this is the second HP printer i bought in recent years only to have issues with printing color.  Mine prints black ink, no color and yet the HP Smart app says I used a quarter of the color ink which isn't true at all.  Why is HP sucking so hard?  Maybe it's time to hang it up.

I have gone through all the resaet modes and still my printer does not print in color . what next?

@Mike541, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Did you try the troubleshooting steps mentioned in the previous posts?

Have you tried making a standalone Color copy and check if the issue persists?

Check the estimated ink levels

On the printer control panel, touch the Ink Level Indicator icon . The control panel displays estimated ink levels. Replace any low or empty cartridges.

Clean the printhead

  1. From the printer control panel, open the Setup  menu.

  2. Open the Printer Maintenance menu.

  3. If necessary, open the Tools menu, and then touch Clean Printhead.

NOTE: If the printhead is badly clogged, it might require another cleaning cycle. If so, wait 30 minutes before you perform all three levels of cleaning again.

Print a Print Quality Diagnostic Page

  1. From the printer control panel, open the Setup  menu.

  2. Open the Reports or Tools menu.

  3. Touch Print Quality Report.

Check for color.

Let me know how this goes.
