I'm trying to print on 65 lb cardstock. Several months ago, I was able to get a stack printed. These days, I get spit back blank sheets, or black smudges/lines going down the page, or squeaking, or jamming. I've wasted a lot of money in expensive cardstock for the occasional working print and I'm at my wit's end.

Here is a thread in these forums where other customers have also been pulling their hair out, with no solutions from HP: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Inkjet-Printing/HP-8710-cardstock-issues/td-p/6009839.

Will a recall by issues or credit towards a new printer or something be coming our way?

As one of the users in the aforementioned link suggested, the problem can be temporarily rectified by applying a small amount of pressure against the rear door. They used weighted objects, which likely failed for them due to the printing vibration loosening the pressure over time, but I used my hand. Given the total pressure required to depress the door fully towards the printer, I applied about 50% of that pressure with my fingers and tried to maintain that ratio for the duration of the print. It did work, so I'm assuming that there is a flaw in the rear door where it doesn't shut tightly enough to enable thick paper to be grabbed properly by the rollers; maybe it is a problem that develops over time. Either way, it should be cause for a recall or some type of upgrade credit (purchase value, not current value).
