OfficeJetPro 8615 tells me there is a problem with the printer or the ink system

Officejet Pro 8615
macOS 10.13 High Sierra

i am getting the common non-HP ink error.  

i installed the firmware update for the 8610 Pro model as there were no listings for the 8615 Pro.

i'm still getting the error — which i had not gotten in like 4 years and have used these cartriges without fail.

what are my options for a solution (i've already tried resetting with the power step, firmware update, inspecting the cartriges and printer head for leaking ink)

Are you using HP Genuine ink cartridges? Have you tried changing all your ink cartridges?
