Officejet 3830 prints off the side of the page.

OfficeJet 3830
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a large PDF file that I am trying to print selected pages and only odd pages. The printer starts printing but only prints part of each page, and each page runs off the edge. I've tried rebooting the computer and the printer to no avail. I'm about ready to throw this thing out the window! Am I simply asking too much of it? the file size is 130 MB. It's an  HP Officejet 3830.

Please help.

@leroy3368,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I reviewed your post and I understand that you are facing issues with the alignment.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

Are you facing the same issue when you print other documents?

Do you face the same issue when you make a copy?

Meanwhile, I recommend you follow the below steps and check if it helps.

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  2. Remove USB cable, if present.
  3. Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
  4. Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
  5. Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.

If you continue facing the issue, then root uninstall the printer and then reinstall it and check.

Here is how it is done.

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

13.) Restart the PC

14.) Download and install the printer software from the below link.

Well, I did what you told me to and now the printer won't even start. I unplugged from the back of the unit while it was on, then the wall. Then I waited for 2-3 minutes. I held the power button down for 30 seconds. I plugged the cord back into the back of the unit and then directly into the wall.

Nothing. (There is a small green light on the back of the unit that is on.)

What do you suggest now?

@leroy3368,

I recommend you disconnect the power cable and connect it back and press the power button and check whether the printer is turning it on.

If you continue facing the issue, then follow the steps in the below article.

Hello,

Well, I followed your instructions and the instructions on the link you sent me.  All of the evidence suggests that I either need to replace my power module or my printer. I know you gave me your best advice but now that I have used it my printer no longer works.

I need to speak with someone about HP providing me a replacement unit. Can you suggest who I should talk to?

Thank you

I request you to talk to HP support.

They might have multiple options to help you with this.

  1. Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp?openCLC=true
  2. Select the country.
  3. Enter the serial of your device.
  4. Select the country from the drop-down.
  5. Click on "Show Options".
  6. Fill the web-form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.

Cheers.
