After not having used my printer for several weeks, I turned it on and it made a lot of extra noise, some grinding and the carriage was banging against the right side of the printer rather hard, and took a long time to be ready. It printed a couple pages and they looked ok. I turned it on again recently and it did the same thing but now it gets stuck on 'aligning cartridges. please wait' forever. When I can get it to turn off and on again, it will make the same noises (no grinding now), say it is aligning the cartridges, then feed a piece of paper halfway through before stopping. If I try to cancel it, it will get stuck on 'cancelling alignment', sometimes randomly beeping and flashing a paper icon, before eventually going into power saving mode. It won't print an alignment page or anything from the computer. I've tried resettting several times all with no change, tried cleaning the cartridges and reinstalling them, nothing. The firmware is updated and it is plugged directly into the wall socket. Is there anything else I can try?

@brandyb23, Welcome to HP Support Community!

If you have already performed the steps from the document The Attention Light Flashes (Paper Jam) for HP Officejet 4500 (G510) Series and 4500 (K710) Series A...and the issue persists, it could be a hardware failure.

Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

Hope this helps!
