Suddenly my officejet 5740 goes offline after every wireless print job from MacBook or iPhone. I have to disconnect and reconnect printer from network for every job. Scanning fine.

@C-man1, Welcome to HP Support Community!
This could be an issue with the connectivity or the print drivers installed. Since you mentioned it happens on both Mac Computer and iPhone, try the steps below-
- Change Router Channel: If you have an Apple router and you’re constantly getting interference with your WiFi, try rebooting it. Upon restart, the station will search for a new channel. Specifically, a different channel than the one your Bluetooth devices is using to communicate. If you don’t have an Apple router, you may need to instead go into your router settings and try changing the channel manually. Experiment with different channels to see which one works best.
- Move Closer to Your Router: If you often find that you’re getting interference when talking on a wireless headset while on a WiFi call (you’ll know because you’ll hear static), try moving closer to your router. This will give you a more robust WiFi connection, so the Bluetooth frequency can’t overpower it.
Also, Update the printer firmware
Download available firmware updates from the HP website
With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates. For more information, go to Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware.
If the issue persists, I shall provide you with additional troubleshooting steps.

I was away for the holidays. Back to home office now. Same problem with printer. The printer is right next to the router already and I tried both channels already. Also tried software update, no help. HP updater indicated Im already using latest version. Thanks for the suggestions. None of the ideas have helped so far. Wonder if this model needs a software patch?

No suggestions from HP staff resolved this problem. So I suspected something other than a printer problem. Home internet has been flakey at times, with erratic ping and speed results and occasional blackout for several seconds. This predated printer problem BUT I tried the following:
1) The Modem-Router-Printer were immediately adjacent. I separated each by several feet.
2) I untangled cables and generally cleaned up the EMF environment (disconnected old PC, unused speaker system w woofer, moved metal lamps, etc).
The printer now stays online and printing problem is gone.
(I had ISP techs here twice about the internet problems and none suggested this kind of cleanup.)
