My printer (Product no e3302a) has been struggling to work. It was sent to me by someone so we could collaborate on art together, but as soon as I booted it up, it said there was a problem with the printhead. Because it had no lever, I found instructions to unscrew it and clean it off with a rag. I put it back in and found one of the thin strips in the back was not connected, so I connected that as well as the others.

Once I returned everything, the error persisted. It was then followed by an error saying the printhead could not move. This was not the case, as I could observe it moving, and in fact observed it moved very quickly, even slamming into the right hand side of the printer most of the time.

I'm truly baffled and, well, covered in ink. Could definitely use some guidance on what else I can do. To my knowledge, it was new and basically unused but had been sitting around for a while.

Hi @cmsmith4252

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.

I appreciate your efforts in trying to resolve this issue by performing the necessary troubleshooting steps.

However, the printhead in this model printer is non-removable. If you have tried the steps mentioned in this document and the issue persists, I'm afraid this is a hardware failure.

If the print carriage is stuck, you may refer to the steps mentioned here.

Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.

Please click “Accept as Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.
