macOS 10.14 Mojave

On iMac OSX Mojave 10.14 HP Envy 7640, HP Utility says "Unable to communicate with the selected device." Printer generally works, I can check the ink level using the print queue, but I have no way to set printer defaults, such as print quality.

Hi,

Any print settings should be set from the print dialog itself, the HP Utility program have nothing to do with changing any print settings.

 

Once changing any setting from the print dialog you may save it as a preset and print, any saved preset will remain default till another preset will be used.

 

The print quality setting should be shown under Media & Quality or under Paper Type/Quality, depending on your printer model:
