Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard and older

When I plug in my 1510 all the lights flash continuously and none of the buttons work. I cannot even turn the printer off with the On/Off button. When I open the print carriage access door the carriage stays on the left so I cannot remove the cartridges to see if they are the problem. The last time it "printed" it only printed 1/4 of the page and then spit out the sheet of paper.

The printer has printed only 5300 pages. If it cannot be fixed I would at least like to remove the cartridges (about $30 worth) and recycle them.

Thanks for reaching out to us on HP Support Forums. 🙂 I came across your post and would like to help.

I understand that you have an  HP PSC 1510 All-in-One Printer and the lights flash continuously on it. None of the buttons work. The printer does not power off using the power button. The print carriage stays towards the left. I appreciate the steps you have performed and have certainly done a good job.

I would like to know the following information to assist you better:

  • Did any changes take place on the printer like a paper jam, cartridge replacement, etc?
  • Have you tried to restart the printer?

Meanwhile, I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:

  • Disconnect the power cable from the printer while the printer is still ON.
  • Disconnect any other cables if connected the printer.
  • Press and hold the printer’s power button for 15 seconds.
  • The printer should be directly connected to the wall outlet and not to a surge protector. Reconnect the power cable to print and the printer should power ON by itself. If the printer doesn’t power ON then please manually power it ON.

If the issue still persists then I suggest you perform the steps as described in detail from this link: Blinking Lights

I sincerely hope this fixes the issue. Please let me know the outcome. Good luck! 🙂
