ENVY 5055
macOS 10.14 Mojave

Hello folks.

I just got this ENVY 5055 and it will not print magenta. Sometimes, it doesn't print black -- unless I specifically tell it to use only black ink in the printer dialogue.

Please note that the cartridges are brand new.

Thanks!

@Ghidorah, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Try making a standalone copy in black and color and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

Let us try these steps to resolve this issue:

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

Clean the ink cartridges

  1. On the printer control panel, swipe left on the display, and then touch Setup .

  2. Touch Tools, and then touch Clean Cartridges.

  3. If the print quality is unacceptable, touch Yes when prompted to perform the next level of cleaning.

  4. If the printhead is badly clogged, it might require another cleaning cycle. If so, wait 30 minutes before you perform both levels of cleaning again.

Manually clean the area around the ink nozzles

Refer to step 13 in this document.

Print a Print Quality Diagnostic report

  1.  the printer control panel, swipe left on the display, and then touch Setup .

  2. Touch Tools.

  3. Swipe up on the display, and then touch Print Quality Report.

Let me know how this goes.

Thank you for the response.

I've been in contact with HP tech support, and the end result is that I will be receiving a new cartridge in about 10 days.

Thanks.

@Ghidorah

It seems like the issue is with the ink cartridge and hence it is being replaced. Wait for the new ink cartridge and let me know how it goes.

Feel free to contact us with any concerns related to HP products.

Happy to help!
