I have an HP Envy Photo 6234. Recently the quality of printing deteriorated with faded areas etc. I have run the usual clean/ alignment steps but no improvement. The printer was out of warranty before Xmas but the HP cartridges are 25% full.

In order to resolve this issue, please follow the instructions on the HP link Black or Color Ink Not Printing, Other Print Quality Issues.
If the issue persists, I have sent you a private message with the required information.

If the problem persists after the HP document and advanced printhead cleaning procedures, one of the ink cartridges may need to be replaced.
As a solution, I suggest you to go back to the same menu described in my private message, but this time you select Reset menu, and Partial reset. If the issue persists after that, please replace the ink cartridges.
