Print head not detected error

Officejet Pro 8600 Plus
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I get the message "The print head appears to be missing, not detected, incorrectly installed, or incompatible." I printed OK this morning. I have reset the print head multiple times. I'm using HP ink. Time for a new printer? Current one is out of warranty.

Print head not detected error

@DVCDad Greetings from the HP Community!

Here are all the steps to identify/resolve the issue:

Step 1: Reset the printer

Reset the printer to recover from printer failures.

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.

  2. Unplug the power cord from the power source.

  3. Wait 60 seconds.

  4. Reconnect the power cord to a wall outlet and to the printer.

    NOTE:

HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.

  5. Turn the printer on.

If the error message persists, continue to the next step.
