I have a MacBook Air, and trying to print on a shimmer cardstock. The printer will take the paper, but then it says ‘Paper detected does not match paper size or type selected.’ Then, once I hit ok, it send out the paper. I custom set the paper size. It fits just fine in the tray. No matter which suggestions I follow, looking up online, I can not figure out where say I’m using cardstock and paper. I do not see a setting where it asks for type of paper. I found Printer Preferences, and when I click on ‘paper handling’, the only thing is says is ‘Tray 1’. Please help me.

@NotSoTekSaavy, Welcome to HP Support Community!
The printer supports cards up to 200gsm. Refer to the document Printer Specifications for HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printers for help on paper handling specifications.
To provide you with an accurate solution, I'd like to know the following-
Which application are you trying to print from?
Have you changed the paper try settings on the printer?
Are you able to print fine on the regular letter-sized paper?
Meanwhile, use the document HP Printers - Print Settings Guide (Mac) for help on adjusting the print settings before sending the print job.
Keep me posted.
