PrintServer error initializing output device

Product Name: Envy 4524
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I changed my router password last night; the wireless printer won't work now. I have reinstalled but it still won't work. I keep getting the message 'PrintServer error initializing output device'.

Please help. I am not at all technically minded, so please bear with me.

Hi! @rm3000g, Welcome to HP forums.

I understand that you keep getting PrintServer error initializing output device.

I understand your concern, Don't worry I will try to help you out.

When does this error occur, Does it happen opening a particular software?

Please try the steps mentioned below.

Follow these steps to reset your HP printer, your wireless router, and your computer.
Press the Power button on the HP printer to turn it off.
Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the HP printer.
Disconnect the power cord from the wireless router.
Turn off the computer.
Wait 30 seconds.
Reconnect the power cord to the wireless router.
Wait 30 seconds, or until the router is fully on and ready.
Turn the computer back on.
Wait for the computer to reload.
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the HP printer.
Turn the printer back on.
Substitute unplugging the USB cable for power cycling the Router if it is USB connected.

Windows Key and R at the same time to open the Run command.  Type Services.msc and press Enter to access the Services menu.
scroll down to Print Spooler and click on Restart.

Hello Mr Robot, This didn't work. I did everything you listed above, went to print a document, and got 'Save print output as' when it should just have started printing; when I removed that screen the old 'PrintServer error initializing output device' message was lurking underneath it.

Plus, when I did manage to print things out, I couldn't delete the final print job: all others in a list I could delete, but the final one remained, 'deleting'. When I managed to print again, the first thing out would be this doc that should have deleted.

Thoroughly fed up. This wireless printer is proving to be a far worse buy than my old non-wireless one. I shouldn't have all this hassle and a non-operable printer just because I changed a router password.

@rm3000g, Thanks for your response and time.

Kudos to you for trying out the steps.

As you mentioned the issue still persists after trying out the steps.

Please try performing a semi full reset on your printer and check if it helps.
