The display time on my  printer is always incorrect.  How can it be set properly?  And the printer will not work--I get a message that it is out of paper, but that is not true.

If the printer time/date can be set on the printer, the setting will likely be available on the printer display.

The Printer Control Panel display (touch the center display and scroll / check the options

Click the Settings wheel icon to see the available menu items.

OR

If the printer is on the network, you might be able to change the Date/Time setting using the Embedded Web Server (EWS).

Open your favorite browser > type / enter Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Tab Settings > Preferences > Date and Time

NOTE:

The exact location of the setting (if it is available) and the type of options for that setting varies by printer model.

Paper Error

Known Solutions:

'Out of Paper' Displays, Printer Does Not Pick Up Paper

The problem might be a mis-match between what the printer thinks is in the paper tray and what is actually loaded in the tray.

Check / Adjust / Retain the Paper at the Printer Panel

Open Printer Tray,

If you have not yet done so, add desired paper type

Close Tray

IF applicable for your printer:

On the printer control panel, Click Modify (wording varies), set the paper size and type, Click OK

Reference

User Guide - Section Load Media - Page 12

NOTE:  If the size of the Paper Size is not in the Drop-down list, Select Custom

Set the Preferences

Make sure you have selected the Media (kind of paper), source (tray), and paper size in your printer settings.

Control Panel > icon view > Devices and Printers > Right-Click on your printer > Printing Preferences >

Tab Printing Shortcuts > Click / Highlight preferred shortcut > Click Apply > Click OK to exit

If the printer software supports the feature, change the settings as desired, then use “Save as” to create a Custom Shortcut.

OR

Windows key + S (search for) Printers and Scanners

Left-Click on (your) Printer > Manage >

Printing Preferences

Select a shortcut and / or set “preferred settings” for paper, source (tray), other settings

Optional (if / as available): Save As > enter a name for your custom shortcut

Click OK to save the preferences

I came across the 'out of paper' incorrect error message on my 3-month old Officejet 5255 printer. I tried the solution Dragon-Fur listed for you but it did not work.  However, when I deleted the printer as a device on my laptop, and then reinstalled the printer following the original HP installation instructions, the error message cleared up.

Good job.

Thanks for posting back.

For those reading:

Original thread:  August 2019

Part of the original answer did not fully address the second part of the question:  message "out of paper".

Print Doctor is kind of obsessive about reloading software.

Perhaps the key in this case is to have first deleted the printer device from Devices and Printers.
