I had my printer connected to my modem but I moved it and tried to connect to Wi Fi.  My computer couldn't find the printer so I downloaded new drivers.  Still nothing.  Went to HP for help.  Virtual agent said to reinstall software.  Nothing, then reset print system,  uninstall software, reinstall, and reinstall printer.  When I try to do that printer does not show up in printers and scanners window.  Then my other printer which is upstairs from my office shows up.  No matter what I do that printer shows up.  Tried to call customer support but of course my printer is out of warranty.  The agent I talked to says my printer is obsolete and I should either go to virtual agent or buy a new printer.  Before I walk out the door to buy a new printer thought I would try this forum.  I am completely confused and frustrated, and so is my printer.

@jeanniec46, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

  • Make sure the printer and the MAC are connected to the same wireless network.
  • This printer supports only 2.4GHz network. So, the MAC should be on the 2.4GHz network.
  • If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both the networks.
  • Also, check with your Internet service provider if your router is able to forward 'Bonjour packets'.

On the printer screen, go to Setup > Network > Restore network defaults

Go back to Network > Wireless > Wireless setup wizard > Select your network

Now, try adding the printer and select "bonjour multifunction" under kind while installing the printer using an AirPrint driver.

Try to print and scan.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
