Printer doesn't recognize a full black ink cartridge.

Photosmart 7520
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I've tried cleaning the cartridges, aligning the printer, and use the manual printhead cleaning instruction suggested on the support page to no avail.  The printer still does not recognize a full black ink cartridge when I attempt to print a Status Report.  It just reports black as empty, i.e. blank.  Short of replacing the printhead, is there anything else I can try?

If you have already performed the steps from the document Black or Color Ink Not Printing, Other Print Quality Issues and the issue persists, it could be a hardware failure.

 

Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

Thank you from the information.  I have tried the suggestions listed.  If I order a new printhead and the problem still isn't resolved can I return the new printhead under its warranty for a refund?

Hello,

 

I was able to restore black cartridge printing by pressing on the cable connecting the print head to the printer.
