@jamu, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Which ink cartridge is not getting detected by the printer?

You may try inserting one ink cartridge at a time to identify the defective ink cartridge.

According to your region, the printer uses HP 802 ink cartridges. Let us try these steps to resolve this issue:

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

Also, perform step 3 mentioned in this document.

Let me know how this goes.

I have tried all the steps that you have outlined above. The problem still persists. The strange thing is that the cartridge 802 black is the correct one and was working correctly and all prints were nice and clear without smudging. Suddenly I get the message that the cartridge is not recognized. The cartridge was a fairly new one and so ink running out cannot be an issue.

HP diagnostic apps have not been able to resolve the problem. Could a new WIN 10 update downloaded and installed be causing some problem?

This seems like a hardware issue with the ink cartridge. Win 10 update would not affect the ink cartridge. If the issue persists, please contact our HP Support team for Service Options as it could be a possible hardware issue:

1) Click on this link - www.hp.com/contacthp/

2) Select your product type below.

3) Enter the serial of your device.

4) Select the country from the drop-down.

5) Select the appropriate option based on your preference.

6) Fill the web-form and proceed further.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.

HP Deskjet1510 All in One series

The error message says that the cartridge number as stated above is not configured for this printer.

However, the cartridge number (802) is not stated above meaning that the no. 802 is correct..Also removing this black cartridge

and leaving the color one in place I am able to print a page although the colors are not so good as black is now missing.

This would probably indicate that this not a hardware fault. In ink levels with both cartridges in place there is a red mark X against the black level indicator and it shows a blank. This means that black cartridge is not recognized. The cartridge is fairly new and not used much. Printer was working fine when I first inserted this new cartridge and was able to make a few good prints.

Suddenly now no printing. Can the proper cartridge go bad suddenly?

I understand. The issue here is with the Black ink cartridge. We have tried all the possible troubleshooting steps and since the issue persists, you will have to replace the black ink cartridge. If the ink cartridge is in-warranty, HP support team may assist you better.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.
