Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I just purchased a HP Office Jet and 6962, just got WiFi at our house also, everything was great until I turned on the printer and set it up for wireless printing, when I did this my WiFi service got a new name and now I am not able to access my WiFi on our cell phones, the WiFi is no longer recognized in the list of available WiFi's.   I have looked this up on Utube and everywhere else but have not had any success in correcting the problem.  I called the tech that installed my WiFi and he said I needed to speak with someone at HP since it seems like it is more a printer issue?

Help!!

Thanks,

Buck

Hello, @Bucktow – Hope you are well 🙂

Thanks for reaching out to the HP Support Forums! I would be glad to help you with the printer issue!

Your Officejet 6962 printer supports the Wi-Fi direct feature and going through your post, it looks like this might be interfering with your home network. When you activate Wi-Fi Direct on your printer, the printer will be sending out a new network name (Something like - Officejet 6962 -Direct XXX) and it is possible that your network devices are connected to this network instead of the home router network. Do not worry, I will certainly help you try and fix this issue 🙂

First, turn off the Wi-Fi direct on your printer. Go to Setup - Wireless - Wi-Fi direct  - Turn off the wi-fi direct. do not worry, this is an added wireless feature of your printer and this will not compromise the wireless printing capability of your printer.

Now, check and make sure all your devices are connected to the home network. Restart the router if needed.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.

Good luck 🙂

I have actually already tried this but did not resolve the issue.

Hello, @Bucktow

Thanks for the update! Appreciate your efforts 🙂

To isolate the issue further, could you please try and turn off the wireless on the printer and then check your home network?

Touch on the wireless icon - Wireless settings - Wireless off.

Once the printer wireless is turned off, check whether your home network is working fine.

Thanks, I'll watch for your reply!

Cheers 🙂
