Printer not printing black

HP Photosmart Wireless B109n-z
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The printer had been working perfectly until the other day when it would not print black. It does print in colour. I cleaned the printer heads and aligned them. The black cartridge is nearly full. In case the black cartridge has become faulty, should I send for another one? Or can anyone suggest something to resolve the problem? Thank you.

If you have already performed the steps from the document Fixing Print Quality Problems for the HP Photosmart B109 All-in-One Printer Series and the issue persists, it could be a hardware failure.

 

Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

Thank you for your reply.

The document to which you referred only seemed to mention XP and Vista. Our computer is Windows10. However, I shall explore the document again. As far as I can remember, all steps have been processed, and lines printed are nice and straight. 

I shall order a new black cartridge.

In the meantime, we are quite happy with dark blue printing.

Sure, let me know if you need any further assistance. Though the document mentions only older versions of windows the steps are valid for Windows 10 as well, the options may vary.
