Printer not printing

Product Name: HP Envy 5640
Operating System: macOS 10.12 Sierra

HP Envy 5640 has been working well but recently I send things to print and nothing comes out of the printer. Sometimes 1 or 2 pages emerge hours later. I have physically attached the printer to my iMac and this seemed to help for a while, but now nothing comes out. The screen menu just shows a print queue which does not move. I have tried printing from my iPad Pro and nothing comes out of the printer either, or it tells me the printer is offline - when the printer screen is on. I feel something needs clearing but not sure what! The online answers all seem to refer to windows not mac. Can you help please?

Re: Printer not printing

Hey there! @Sulablula, Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums!

I understand you have issues printing from your printer.

Don't worry I'll try to help you out.

Did you make any changes to your printer?

Does the issue persist when you make a copy from your printer?

Please try the steps recommended below.

If all previous troubleshooting did not resolve the issue, try resetting the printing system.
   CAUTION:
Resetting the print system deletes all devices in the print queue. This includes both HP and non-HP devices.

Right-click (or Ctrl + click) the blank space in the Printers list, and then click Reset printing system.

Click Reset in the confirmation window.
Enter the administrator username and password, and then click OK.
Wait until the printing system is reset and no devices show in the Printers list.
Add your printer to the list again as was done previously.
Try printing again.
If the printer prints, you can stop troubleshooting.

Refer this article to further troubleshoot printer offline issues.

I'll keep an eye out for your response.

I hope you have a great day!
