I am working from home, processing several letters and envelopes. I have to print one letter at a time because my printer says the tray is full when there is only page printed. I love the printer except for this hassle. My printer is not in the same room as my computer so I'm going back and forth constantly.

If the printer was working fine before but not now, resetting it to its factory settings may help.
- The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.
- I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
- In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Forums profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/notes/privatenotespage
Let me know how this goes.

Hi @Debbyjean
Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.
- Which application are you trying to print from?
- Have you tried printing different types of documents like PDF, Word, or Webpages and check if the issue persists?
Let us try these steps to resolve this issue:
Reset the printer
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
- Wait at least 60 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
- Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
- Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.
Update the printer firmware
Click here to download and install the latest firmware from your computer.

I tried what you said. I still have the same issue. I'm not sure I explained it very well. If I try to print 5 1-page documents, the printer will print the first print job of 1 page and then there is a message that the output tray is full. However, if I print one document of 10 pages, it will print all of the pages. So, in other words, it won't print more than one print job without me taking the printed page off the output tray (shelf--whatever it is called). 🙂 So, I have been pushing the output tray (?) in, where the printed pages come out at. So, it will print more than one print job if the tray is in. The pages then fall on the desk. lol The output tray on this computer is really kind of cheap. I love HP products but this is really getting on my nerves. 🙂 Hope this makes better sense. Thank you.

The output tray capacity of this printer is 100 pages according to the printer specifications. If there are more than 100 pages on the output tray, you will have to empty it before printing the next job.
If there are less than 100 pages and the issue persists, we can perform a factory reset on the printer.
Note: A factory reset will delete all the settings on the printer.
Keep me posted.
