Printer prints dark all of a sudden.

I am so frustrated! My printer just started printing really dark out of the blue. I have spent hours trying to resolve this issue and of course HP is not answering the phone to help me. 

I have sufficient ink. I have cleaned and aligned the print heads. Everything is up to date and my printer just started printing extremely dark. Two days ago it was printing fine. I have wasted so much paper and ink trying to fix this. HELP!

Welcome to the HP Support Community. Apologies for the inconvenience. I'd be happy to assist you.

Due to the pandemic situation, our call volumes have increased and so has the hold time. We are working on it.

• Which application are you trying to print from?
• Have you tried printing different types of documents like PDF, Word or Webpages and check if the issue persists?
• Try making a standalone copy in black and color to check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

Update the printer firmware

Click here to download and install the latest firmware from your computer.

Also, check for any software updates on MAC

Click the Apple icon > About This Mac > Software Update and install any available update.

Check the print settings on the MAC, 

1. Open a document, photo, or webpage, click File, and then click Print to open the print dialog.

2. If a Show Details button displays at the bottom of the dialog, click it to reveal all available menu options. The button changes to Hide Details when clicked.

3. 

4. Select your printer in the Printer menu.

5. Click the unnamed print options menu at the separator bar to display more settings options.

   

6. Adjust the Quality to DRAFT or NORMAL and check if that helps.
