Printer stopped printing

I am getting an error message that states - "The printhead appears to be missing, not detected, incorrectly installed or incompatible".  The lights across the top for each of the ink cartridges are flashing and I can't print a test page.  I have disconnected the electric cord and removed the cartridges and then put it all back together and still not working.  What can I do to fix this without having to re-install the printer?  thank you.

That error is related to the printer-head or the cartridges, you may want to clean them, remove and re-seat the same.

Thank you.  However, how do I remove the printerhead?  Is this easy enough to do on my own?
