Printer will not copy.

ENVY 4520.
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

When I try to copy, I get the error message: Copy does not support Envelope #10.  I have tried unplugging the printer to reset.  I have dumped the printer software, and restarted the computer to reload.  I have tried downloading a new version of the software, etc.  Nothing works.  Any ideas?

Printer will not copy.

@RMechels

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Are you able to copy other documents or just regular paper? This Printer does not copy Envelopes.

As a workaround, scan whatever you want to print on the envelope to your computer and then print to the envelope.

I suggest this as a workaround as you can select the correct paper size and type from your computer.

Printer will not copy.

I appreciate your quick response.  I am not a beginner, but this one has me stymied.  The printer is loaded with standard (8.5x11) paper, the computer also indicates it's loaded with standard paper.  When the print screen appears, I also make sure that it indicates standard paper.  And when I print a document, everything works fine.  But when I try to copy, the printer insists I have loaded #10 Envelopes.

Since for a "copy" I'm not going through the computer, it seems to me that the printer is malfunctioning.  I have tried every kind of "reset" I can think of...including dumping the printer from the computer, and reinstalling.  Nothing seems to get rid of the envelope error message.  Any fresh ideas would be welcome.  Thanks.

Printer will not copy.

Are you able to scan?

  •  Connect the printer to a different wall outlet to determine if the original outlet is causing the issue.

  • If the issue persists using a different wall outlet, partially lift the scanner lid, and then press the Copy button or icon. If the scanner light does not illuminate or move across the glass, it could be a hardware issue.

Let us know.
