Printer will only print in black and white even after troubleshooting

HP ENVY 5055
macOS 10.14 Mojave

I have an HP ENVY 5055 all in one printer. It will only print in black and white. I have tried unselecting the black and white option in the printing set up, and it will look in color in the preview window, but still prints in black and white. I tried removing the printer all together from my computer and started from scratch to set it up to my computer again, and no change. I have attempted to use the troubleshooting options on the hp site to no avail. However when checking alignment, it will print in color. The default print settings are for black and white and do not provide me an option to change that. I have tried to create a new print preset, but that also doesn't allow an option for color printing. If I am printing a copy of a document/photo that is in color, then it will print the copy in color. If I scan a photo and then try to print, it will only print in black and white. I have no idea how to correct this issue. Any advice is welcome.

@Picardgrl4e, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Which application are you trying to print from?

Have you tried printing different types of documents like PDF, Word or Webpages and check if the issue persists?

Is the printer installed using AirPrint driver of the HP printer driver?

This seems like an issue with the printer driver. Let us try these steps to resolve this issue:

Update the printer firmware

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

Also, check for any software updates on MAC

Check the print settings on the MAC. Click here to know the settings.

Select Media and quality from the unnamed menu and make sure color is selected.

Try printing.

Let me know how this goes.
