HP Envy 4500
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hp 4500 Envy won't copy. It loads the paper and stops the process. I do not receive any fault reports on the printer screen. I uninstalled all the printer software and reinstalled same from HP. Same problem.  Process stops at "Copying...1/1". Tried to use Virtual Agent. Waste of time. Tried Scan Doctor. Put me in here to seek online help. HELP!!!

Are you able to scan?

 

Reset the printer to clear certain error states, and then check the power source to make sure the printer is getting enough power to operate the copier.

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer, disconnect the power cord from the power source, and then wait 30 seconds.

  2. If you are using a power strip or multi-plug adapter, connect the cord directly to a wall outlet to ensure the printer is getting enough power.

  3. Reconnect the power cord to the printer, and then try making a copy.

    • If the issue persists, connect the printer to a different wall outlet to determine if the original outlet is causing the issue.

    • If the issue persists using a different wall outlet, partially lift the scanner lid, and then press the Copy button or icon. If the scanner light does not illuminate or move across the glass, it could be a hardware issue.

Thank you for replying Betty. I followed your instructions and they did not produce a solution. My printer will not copy or scan.   The scanner light does not illuminate nor go across the glass. Sounds like I have a hardware issue then? Any simple solution or time for the scrap heap?

This is a hardware issue, I would suggest you contact our phone support. They will help you.

 

Here is how you can get in touch with phone support.

 

1)Click on this link - www.hp.com/contacthp/

2)Select the product type.

3)Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.

4)Select the country from the drop-down.

5)You should see the HP phone support number or Chat option listed.
