Welcome to the HP Forums, this is a great location to get assistance! I read your post and see that your printer does not shut down. I would like to help you resolve this issue.

Perform a power reset

  1. Turn on the printer, if it is not already on.
  2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
  3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  4. Wait at least 30 seconds.
  5. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  6. Turn on the printer

Let me know if that works.

Cheers.

I started to print a Word docment, printed 2 pages and than it stopped printing.  Said there was a paper jam, I checked and no paper jam.  It started to print again and than stopped, same error paper jam, but no jam.  I shut it down and restarted, but received the same error.  So I unplugged the printer (probably shouldn't have) and now is says it's shutting down, but hasn't for 30 minutes.  It's just says shutting down and doing nothing!
