Printer status says printhead failure. Tried ALL suggested HP fixes and still the same message. Any other suggestions, short of a new printer?

Contact HP Support team as mentioned in my previous post who can help you as this is a Hardware issue. If the part is unavailable, then yes you would have to go for a Brand New Printer.
Keep me posted for further assistance.

@ncb1113, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
I'm afraid this could be a hardware issue with the printer. Let us try these steps that may resolve this issue.
Reset the printer
1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.
If the error persists, perform the troubleshooting steps mentioned in this document.
Let me know how this goes.

I am in the same problem at the moment. I have tried unplugging, restarting, and cleaning it out. Nothing works. I looked for the part on the HP website, it says it does not have the part available.
Is there any other place to look for parts?
