Welcome to HP support community.

Clean the ink cartridge contacts

  1. Turn the printer on.

  2. Open the door to access to the ink cartridges.

  3. Wait until the carriage stops moving before you continue.

  4. Push in on the front of the ink cartridge indicated in the error message, and then remove it.

  5. Wipe the electrical contact on the ink cartridge with a lint-free cloth.

  6. Insert the ink cartridge into its color-coded slot until it snaps into place.

  7. Repeat these steps for any other ink cartridges indicated in the error message.

  8. Close the ink cartridge access door.

Does someone have a more helpful suggestion please?

HP officejet Pro 8620.

I've tried everything including changing all 4 cartridges with new ones. HP scan doctor hasn't helped either.

i've just come back after xmas holidays to this problem. the problem didn't exist before i went away.

have their been any windows or other software updates that might affect this?

Any other suggestions please?

@Gerry1951, Welcome to HP Support Community!

If you have already performed the steps from the document Printhead Errors and the issue persists, it could be a hardware failure.

Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

Hope this helps!
