Hi! @Frecklepaw, Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues, with help from the community!

I understand you are getting exception code 0xe06d7363 protection fault error on your printer.

Don't worry I'd like to help you out.

Did you make any changes to your printer?

Are you able to make a copy from your printer?

Please provide the model name of your printer to assist you better.

Try the steps recommended below.

In some cases, removing the ink cartridges and resetting the printer can clear the error message.
Turn on the printer.
Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
Disconnect the USB cable from the rear of the printer. If your printer has a network or wireless connection, leave it connected.
Remove the ink cartridges from the printer.
With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and from the wall outlet or power strip.
Wait at least 60 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
   NOTE:
HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to a wall outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.
Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
Reinsert the ink cartridges, and then close the ink cartridge access door.
If you receive a prompt to print a calibration page, do so.
If you disconnected the USB cable, reconnect it to the rear of the printer.
Try to print.

Also, uninstall the printer software from root level on your PC and install the full feature printer software.

None of what you described has worked, now there is a new error message when I try to select "Print Preferences" (see below).

HP selecting printer properties.PNG

I now am unable to change any of my printing preferences, which is really inconveniencing.  Is there another way of accessing these options as an alternative/override meantime until I get it fixed/replaced?

My product is under warranty but just not with HP directly, I took out an extra 3-year warranty which ends on 24/07/2019 but this has not been updated on my account page.  Why?

I now can't get through on chat to speak to anyone as it says my warranty has expired.

Please send me over the link for a chat option (only - I'm not interested in the telephone number) where I can actually speak to someone directly.

@Frecklepaw, Thanks for your prompt response and time.

I appriciate your efforts for writing back to us.

As you mentioned the issue still persists after trying out the steps.

Try the steps recommended below and check if it helps.

  • First, unplug the USB cable from the printer, if present.
  • Go to Control Panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP LaserJet printer entries and uninstall them.
  • Now go to Control Panel – Devices and Printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
  • Press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" (There is a space between .exe & /) and press enter.
  • Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
  • Again, go to the Run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Now, Click Here to download and install the software.
  • Connect the USB cable if prompted and follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation.

Let me know if this helps!

Take Care! 🙂
