HP Envy 5530 series serial no. [edit]

Printer not working , red x on panel as soon as I hit print, and then job ceases. Removed cartridges as told but in fact when I replaced them I got a mess age that color cartridge was missing or plastic cap in place. This in not correct and printer still not printing jobs

Try making a standalone copy in black and color to check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

What is the exact error message on the printer screen with the red X?

Are you using HP ink cartridges in the printer?

Which device are you using to print? How is it connected?

 

To identify the defective ink cartridge, try printing in single cartridge mode. Insert one ink cartridge at a time and try printing or making a copy.

 

For now, let us try these steps:

 

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

 

Update the printer firmware

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

 

Make sure the orange protective tape on the ink cartridge is removed before inserting the ink cartridge.
