HP 7640 ink jet. I have the recurring message to remove and reinstall the cartridges. It is an endless message, and I have not been able to print. HP Instant Ink is long overdue in sending me new cartridges, so I don't know if that's a problem. Yes, I did replace one cartridge recently, my last one. Help. Please

I keep getting the same message over and over "ink cartridge problem" "remove & reinstall the indicated cartridge etc etc etc"  I have disconnected the printer and unplugged from a wall socket and waited 60 seconds and reconnected only to have the same message loop come up.  I have purchased new cartridges and the same loop keeps coming up.  There should be an easy way to bypass around this but no one seems to know how.  What can I do?  All I want is to be able to print with my HP.  Please help!

I have clicked on the "link" but it didn't lead anywhere.  Do you have a solution for me?

@Rob-333, Welcome to HP Support Community!

Is your printer enrolled in HP Instant Ink Program?

Keep me posted for further assistance.

No it's not in the instant ink program.  I'm gone a lot and don't use the printer for weeks at a time which is why I'm really upset that I keep getting the "remove & reinstall" messages and it won't print!  Thx.

@Rob-333

If you have already performed the steps from the document HP Printer Does not Print and Error Indicates Faulty Ink Cartridge and the issue persists, it could be a hardware failure.

Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

Hope this helps!

Seriously 11 pages for 1 issue with a printer of a reputed brand like HP. I had purchased an HP Deskjet 3835 All-in-One Ink Advantage Wireless Color Printer on 19 March 2020. I had ordered a combo box of replacement cartridges from store.hp.com well in advance in March 2020 itself under Order # 101300000410160 siting lockdown in India. I had replaced the colored cartridge in May 2020 with the new one which I had received and initially, it worked fine.

The printer was bought solely for the purpose of online classes being held for my son and there were a lot of assignments and other materials to be printed. The replacement cartridge worked fine until before the summer vacations.

After the summer vacations, I wanted to print a document again and now the Chinese made printer is not recognizing the color cartridge. I have tried all the troubleshooting mentioned related to hard reset. I understand it worked for a few and not for all. For a few, it worked with a special DM message.

This is very frustrating, I bought HP Printer only because I have used a couple in the past and because of the brand reputation. If I had to live with such issues, I could have bought a similar cheaper product from Canon or another brand.

Now I have a Chinese manufactured HP Printer which is 8K+ with new cartridges and does not want to recognize the new HP cartridges and do what it has been build to do. Now I have an expensive piece of junk unless it starts working again.

FYI: The old empty color cartridge is still getting recognized.

I have the same error message:

My printer is  ENVY 5540 All-in-One Printer series.

After printing out few documents, turn off few days and turn on a message popped up showing cartridge and the message "remove and reinstall the indicated cartridge, making sure that it is correctly installed". I have recently installed a new black cartridge Calidad HP 62 XL Black and this has been happening since.

I tried to a Hard reset on the printer didn't help. It's really frustrating kindly help me.

I posted the same review (as in my previous comment) on the product page of the HP Cartridge 680 combo pack (gave 1 star) and here is what someone from the support replied -

Dear Customer,

Thanks for getting in touch.

Sorry to hear that and I appreciate you bringing this to my attention.

Kindly email (etailsupport@hp.com) your contact number and HP unit's serial number along with the review link.

I'll get the issue fixed asap.

Seriously who is this guy who offered to help? I had sent an email at the above email address but no one has responded since 5 days. I can not post a comment or a reply on the product page as I have already written a review there.

Better to get a refill kit for 500 bucks from Amazon to refill the cartridges which the printer already recognizes rather than to invest in a new set of cartridges and hope the printer will recognize them.
