HP Recommended

I replaced the black ink cartridge in my XP-600 printer. The printer refuses to acknowledge that it's a new cartridge. Still say ink is low and to replace cartridge. I've removed it and cleaned contacts, I've shut it down and restarted both with cartridge in and out, by both turning off via switch and by pulling the power plug, I've done update printer, I've taken the cartridge out and replaced it several times.  I only use Epson cartridges.  A little help getting this thing to recognize it's a new full cartridge would be appreciated.
