To Scan to your MAC OS Catalina, I suggest you use the HP Smart App or Apple's Image Capture

Are you able to make photocopies? Are you getting any error messages?
Also let me know which App you are using for scanning

Thanks for your support. I am able to make copies. But I cannot scan from the printer to my MacBook air. I have added my Mack book to my printer but it does not scan. It gives me a message if I have downloaded an OCR app.
How to proceed.
