Hello,

 

I have just recently started having issues when printing.

I have had the printer for a couple of years now and have never had any problems with it before.

 

I use my printer wirelessly, but there is no problem with the internet.

I am still able to use the internet wirelessly on my computer, with no problems. The connection is strong, and the printer is still connected to the internet, as other devices are able to print wirelessly, there is just an issue on my specific computer.

 

I used the HP Virtual Agent and tried every fix on there that it suggested, but still nothing has worked.

 

Anytime I go to print, I get the same pop up saying 'Unable to Communicate with the Printer'.

Even though the printer is still switched on and active, and is still connected to the network and printing fine from other devices.

 

Any tips on how to fix this would be appreciated.

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.

  • How far is the printer located from the WiFi router?
  • Make sure the printer and the PC are connected to the same wireless network.
  • This printer supports only 2.4GHz network. So, the PC should be on the 2.4GHz network.
  • If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both the networks.

Assigning a static IP address to the printer may help

  1. Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to obtain the IP address.
  2. Type the IP address at the top of your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
  3. If you get any security notification, click on show details/advanced and 'proceed to this website'.
  4. Go to "Network" tab - General - Select "Network protocols" - Select "Enable IPv4 only" (or similar) - Apply the settings.
  5. Go to the “Network” tab – Click on “Wireless (802.11) – Then click on “Network address (IPv4)
  6. Click on the radio button which says “Manual IP” and then click “Suggest a manual IP address” to give a manual IP address to your printer.
  7. Click on the radio button which says “Manual DNS Server” and under manual preferred type 8.8.8.8 and under manual alternate type 8.8.4.4 (This is Google DNS server address)
