HOW CAN I SCAN TO EMAIL? IT USE TO WORK ON MY PRINTER, BUT NOW IT DOES NOT.
IS THIS A WAY TO HAVE TO BUY A NEW PRINTER, WHEN I HAVE A PERFECTLY GOOD ONE. I UPGRADED TO CATALINA AND EVERYTHING WENT WRONG.

I understand the inconvenience caused. I would recommend you to go through a similar post that speaks about the scanning issues after Mac OS update.
Also, try using the HP Smart App to scan. Refer to the document HP Printers - Using the HP Smart App (Mac) for help.
You can also try to reset scan to email on your printer.
