Officejet 6815 and 6830
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Topic pretty much sums it up.

Is there a physical difference between the Officejet 6815 and the Officejet 6830 Pro?

My Officejet 6815 stopped accepting wireless print jobs. I came to the conclusion that this was a hardware issue after trying different computers, and a router workaround.

Shortly after, the USB direct printing stopped as well.

Since this was an older printer, I went to see if the formatter board (motherboard) was available used to get diagnostics. Using the serial number on the printed circuit board, I found a match. However, this new formatter board identified itself as a 6830 after swapping itself out.

All on-board functions are working (print, scan when using the lcd), but HP drivers won't install properly. (I'm using the 6830 drivers, not 6815 as it can't find a 6815).

Using the generic Windows 10 drivers, the printer works. But leaves scanning unavailable.

Welcome to HP support community.

I request you to talk to HP support.

They might have multiple options to help you with this.

  1. Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp?openCLC=true
  2. Select the country.
  3. Enter the serial of your device.
  4. Select the country from the drop-down.
  5. Click on "Show Options".
  6. Fill the web-form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.

I hope that helps.
