Printer just stopped printing, was working fine, Error message says "Hold for Authentication" I have gone to this Webb site and asked this question but have not gotten an answer. Same question asked 2 days ago by someone else, they were told they needed Semi Full Reset. HP tech say he would send information to them.

Hi @Kay65

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the "Hold for Authentication" error.

This condition typically occur when the user is not authorized to send a job to this print queue. Removing the saved authentication from the Keychain Access, clearing any print jobs stuck in queue and then re-authenticating the printer with the correct network credentials should resolve the issue.

Try these steps -

1.) On your Mac, click Finder, click Applications, click the Utility folder, then double-click Keychain Access.

2.) Search the name of the printer using the search box, select the printer and click Delete.

3.) Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners.

4.) Click the printer name and then click Open Print Queue...

5.) Click on the button to cancel the print jobs that are stuck in the queue.

Once any pending jobs have been deleted, reboot the computer.  After reboot, try printing again to the printer and the authentication window will popup prompting for your WiFi network name and password.  Enter your network name and password and ensure the “Remember this password in my keychain” checkbox is checked.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
