Windows 10 update on my laptop last night.  Now can't print.  Get a message saying "The I/O operation has been aborted because of either a thread exit or an application request".  I've downloaded newest driver and firmware.  Still getting the same message.  Also reset my wireless connection.  No problem at all printing from my Chromebook.  Just can't print from my Windows laptop after the update.  Any suggestions as to how I can fix this?  Thanks!

Running the diagnostics at https://support.hp.com/us-en/topic/printscandoctor may help resolve the issue.  Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor.

Also - did you reboot the computer after the update?  If not I would suggest doing that first.

Thank you, Bob!  I had downloaded and tried to use Print and Scan Doctor but it just kept telling me to connect the printer.  The printer was already connected.  Then I realized that I hadn't rebooted the computer after downloading the driver and firmware (as in your excellent suggestion!).  So I did that.  Still no printing.  Then, went back to the control panel, printers and, for no good reason at all, I clicked on Add a Printer.  Clicked through the steps (and no, I didn't first uninstall my printer,) and, voila!, the test page printed.  I will never understand computers!  Thank you for helping me keep at it til it worked!! 😅

I am glad you got things working.  Lately Windows 10 seems to do some updates without requiring a reboot, even though this leaves things in a state of not working.
