Wireless Network Locked - HP OfficeJet Pro 8725

Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan

I have installed a new modem and now my printer won't work. I need to change the wireless network name and password on the printer but it wont allow me because the printer tells me that it has an administrator lock on it. I am the only one who uses the printer so not sure how the feature has been locked by me who set up the printer. I urgently need to unlock this so that I can change the wireless password so that the printer can work again. I have an Officejet Pro 8725 & I have a MAC. Please Help

Wireless Network Locked - HP OfficeJet Pro 8725

Hi @surfquest73,

Good Day! Thanks for taking an interest in the HP Support Forums! I read your post about the printer locked by the administrator password. I will be delighted to assist you with this. 🙂

Fabulous diagnosis and superb analysis of the issue before posting.  Kudos to you on that score. It is always a privilege to work with technical specialists like you. :)You are a valued HP customer and it is paramount to assist you here. We greatly appreciate you for doing business with HP. I take it as a privilege to share this platform with you. 🙂

For better clarity and to assist you better I would require more information regarding this.

·         Did you try restoring the printer to factory defaults?

For starters, please try to reset the printer to factory defaults or network defaults: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05050200 please visit pages 145 and 146 for doing this. Then check again by connecting to the network if the issue gets fixed.

If this doesn’t work, I will be doing is to send you a private message to perform a semi full reset to original factory settings. It gives you complete information on how to do this. Please keep checking your private messages on HP forums.

Please try this step and it should reset the printer to original factory settings and later you could reconfigure the printer to connect to the network.

Hope this helps.   I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. 🙂  Please reach out for any issues and I'll be there to assist you. 🙂

To simply say thanksplease click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help.

If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles. 🙂

Take care now and have a splendid week ahead. 🙂
