Wireless connected printer status indicates 'Offline' while docked to my home ethernet (wired)

HP OfficeJet 8710 pro
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I can print to my wirelessly connected HP OfficeJet 8710 pro while my laptop is docked to my home ethernet, however the printer status returns to 'Offline' once the print is completed.  This 'Offline' status doesn't allow me to utilize the other all-in-one functions or the HP App, unless I undock my laptop from my home ethernet.  I have been trying to research HP Support to find a setting to resolve this, however I have been unsuccessful and cannot find a support phone number to contact for further assistance.

Please advise

@Junior91

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Let's run the HP Print and Scan Doctor:

Use this link for details on using the HP Print and Scan doctor: https://hp.care/2JyaC93

If the issue persists, let's do a root uninstall and reinstall of the software:

Unplug any USB cable, if any, before doing this.

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

13.)  Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

14.) Type c:/programdata and click Ok. Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

15.) Restart the computer.

Once done, please download and install the software from here:

Thanks for the more in-depth uninstall.  I deleted everything HP and reinstalled the printer, however it still goes 'Offline' when docked.  I am going to try connecting my son's laptop to see if it does the same thing.

Well, it is not just my computer, since my son's laptop also goes 'Offline' when docked.  I have looked through the HP Advance Settings and cannot seem to find a setting that will communicate with the printer while docked.

I bypassed my docking station and connected my computer directly to the ethernet with the same result, ruling out a driver issue between devices.   While my computer is undocked, I plugged the printer into the ethernet system.  This too forced the printer to go 'Offline'' as well.

Can the wirelessly connected printer be set to stay wirelessly connected while docked?

Let's reset the Printer's network settings:

1. From the printer control panel, touch or swipe down the tab at the top of the screen to open the Dashboard, and then touch ( Setup ). 2. Touch Network Setup. 3. Touch Restore Network Settings. A message appears stating that the network defaults will be restored. 4. Touch Yes. 5. Print the network configuration page and verify that the network settings have been reset.

Once done, connect the Printer to the Wi-Fi: 1. From the Home screen on the printer control panel, touch (Wireless). 2. Touch Settings. 3. Touch Wireless Setup Wizard. 4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.

Let me know if this helps.
