colour won't print

hp4520 all in one printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

my hp4520 all in one printer isn't printing in colour, only black and white. Ink levels are good and diagnostic page printed the colours but when printing an image for my cardmaking hobby, it doesn't work?

@jules8591, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

As the diagnostic page was printed in color, it means the ink cartridges are working fine and this could be a software issue.

  • Try making a standalone copy in color and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.
  • Have you tried printing different types of documents like PDF, Word or Webpages and check if the issue persists?

For now, let us try these steps to resolve this issue:

Clean the ink cartridges

  1. On the printer control panel, swipe the display to the left, then touch Setup.

  2. Touch Tools, then touch Clean Cartridges.

  3. If the print quality is unacceptable, click Yes when prompted to perform the next level of cleaning.

  4. NOTE:

If the printhead is badly clogged, it might require another cleaning cycle. If so, wait 30 minutes before you perform both levels of cleaning again.

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor to diagnose and fix any driver issue on the PC

Click here to download the file. Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and click on 'Fix printing'.

Try printing, make a color copy or print the diagnostic page to check if the issue is resolved.

Let me know how this goes.
