HP Officejet Pro 8100
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

HI. I know I have Windows 10, just not sure if it is 32 bit. I am using a wireless printer, officejet Pro 8100.

Either way, my printer will print a job immediately if I have just signed on, but if I go into another page, or find another file a few minutes later to print, it just sits there and nothing happens. I then cancel the job and restart. Oddly, I was trying to diagnose the issue and a print job that was requested at least 10 minutes ago just decided to come out.

Why does this happen and how can I get my print jobs to all come out immediately?

Welcome to HP support community.

Reinstall the print driver

  1. In Windows, search for and open Add or remove programs.

  2. Select your printer in the list, and then click Uninstall.

  3. After uninstalling the print driver, go to, and then follow the on-screen instructions to download and install the latest driver.

  4. Try to print.

Update the printer firmware

For more detailed steps, go to Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware.
