error message cartridge can only be used in printer that initially installed it

I keep getting error message "cartridge can only be used in printer that initially installed it.     The cartridge has been in for a few months and was working fine last night.   Then I went to HP to sign up for auto ship for ink cartridge and then got the message.    No HP human support out there for what I think should be an easy fix.   Never touched the  cartridge but signed up for their service and then got an error message.

 

Any help is appreciated.

Also, have you checked you HP Instant Ink account page? Your Instant Ink account page will have notifications if there are any issues with the account or recent cartridge shipment, it will even provide solutions on how to fix the issue. You may log in to your HP Instant Ink account page from here.
